A new On Board Units generation
The first operational electronic toll system standardized in the world as a European standard is implemented in Italy and represents the first true example of the Internet of Things.
The technology behind the electronic toll collection is from Movyon, which, since then, has distributed over 20 million On Board Units, the devices on board vehicles that allow drivers to pay electronically for mobility services on toll motorways, as well as in city.
The On Board Units produced by Movyon are provided with DSRC and Satellite technology.
PRODUCTS
OBU GO DSRC
The onboard device enables electronic toll payment via DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) microwave technology through the 5.8 GHz frequency band, which is used to dialogue with the ground infrastructure antennas via transponder communication.
OBU GO Sat
OBU GO Sat is an On Board Unit for toll payment using both satellite technology – by sending geolocation data to the central platform via 4G LTE Cellular Network – and DSRC technology. Through a sophisticated Map Matching algorithm, the system processes the data and reconstructs the vehicle’s route, allowing it to be verified and the toll to be defined.
