Movyon, an Autostrade per l’Italia Group company and leader in smart mobility monitoring and management solutions, yesterday afternoon received the Dyslexia Friendly Company certification from the Associazione Italiana Dislessia (Italian Dyslexia Association), and is consequently now on the list of companies engaged in training and awareness-raising courses on Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs).
This milestone comes at the end of the “SLD Progress for Work” project, a course aimed at increasing awareness of SLDs and removing the obstacles that can preclude professional success for people with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and dysorthography.
In addition to taking part in training activities and defining good practices for the Autostrade Group, Movyon’s HR team recently held refresher meetings with AID consultants to consolidate and improve implementation of inclusive methodologies in human resource management.
Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs) affect almost three million people in Italy, about 5% of the population, 1.2 million of whom are of working age. These are neurodivergent conditions, innate and invisible characteristics that follow individuals throughout their lives, causing difficulties in reading, writing and calculating. These critical issues, which can be compensated over time with the right tools and strategies, are often accompanied by valuable strengths such as unconventional thinking, creativity and problem-solving abilities.
Addressing this issue in the company is not only an opportunity to include and make the most of people with SDLs, but is also a revelation for those who have never been diagnosed or have been diagnosed late, without being able to become fully aware of themselves and how to deal with their disorder.
“I thank Movyon”, stressed the president of AID, Silvia Lanzafame, “for the great sensitivity on the issue of specific learning disabilities and for the concrete commitment to developing and applying good practices to HR in order to exploit the potential of workers with this characteristic, in the wake of the initiatives undertaken by Autostrade per l’Italia.”
“For Movyon and the entire Autostrade per l’Italia Group, diversity, equality and inclusion are fundamental values to create an open and respectful work environment, where everyone can realize their potential,” said Federico Esposito, HR Manager at Movyon, “The changes taking place in society and the world of work have made it clear how approaching diversity and inclusion correctly can create value for all stakeholders, both internal and external.
The “Dyslexia Friendly Company” certification marks a new stage in this journey that, starting with our HR team, will continue to involve the entire company population to ensure ever stronger and deeper awareness of the issues surrounding Specific Learning Disorders.”
